Creative wedding money gift packaging: Craft a magic wand that grants wishes

Here's a simple but special idea for giving money as a wedding gift: a small paper magic wand, filled with a banknote – for wishes yet to be fulfilled.

Instead of simply putting the money in an envelope, it becomes a magic wand, helping the bridal couple fulfill their own wishes.

What you'll need:

  • nice (sturdy) paper, preferably double-sided

  • scissors

  • glue stick or double-sided tape

  • a banknote

  • ribbon

How to craft the magic wand:

  1. Cut two identical stars from your paper. The easiest way: fold the paper in half, draw a star, and cut both layers at the same time – this way they'll fit together perfectly later.
If you like, you can use this template (PDF for printing)

  2. Optional: Label one of the stars now – e.g., with "Wish granted," "For your wishes," "Wish fulfiller," or "Make a wish." This is the easiest and neatest way to do it.

  3. Carefully glue the stars together along the edges – leave a small opening free.

  4. Fold the banknote so that it fits well into the star, and slide it through the opening.

  5. Cut another piece of paper (approx. 15 × 20 cm, about A5 size) and roll it as tightly as possible into a thin stick.
Secure the end with glue or double-sided tape so that the stick doesn't unroll.

  6. Trim the ends of the paper stick straight to create clean edges at the top and bottom.

  7. Slide the paper stick into the opening of the star – it will now sit directly behind the banknote.

  8. Close the opening and secure everything well with glue, so that the star and stick are firmly connected.

  9. Finally, wrap a ribbon around the stick just below the star and tie a bow – this will give the magic wand its final look.

Tip

You can use the front and back of your paper specifically: For example, design the front star with one side and the back star with the other – or deliberately contrast the stick with it.

This is the paper I used here, by the way:

If you want to design the magic wand in a different color, these papers also work very well:
→ more gift wrap

For the bow, you can use ribbon – this creates a beautiful, decorative finish directly below the star:
→ Ribbon in many colors

The magic wand is a gift in itself – a loving, humorous alternative to the classic envelope. You can also place it on top of a larger gift or attach it to one.
